The majority of businesses, and local lawyers, have not felt the impact of competition and anti-trust regulation until quite recently, and despite the fact that national legislation has been around since 1989. Recently various developments have forced eveybody to take a second, and third look, in this field, invariably following in the footseps of other European jurisdictions; namely the inflow of overseas capital, investors and big business in Cyprus, the privitisation of previous state – held enterprises, and the pressures of a modern economy which strives to achieve, amongst others, economies of scale. The Commission for the Protection of Competition (CPC) has kept up with the times and has strengthened its role through ad hoc cartel related investigations and dawn raids, following up on complaints as well as investigating and clearing concentrations.
We have had extensive experience and we are proud to be contributing in the transformation of this field of law.
